Check a Dutch supplier before you pay

One tool call tells your team or your agent what the official sources say about a Dutch or EU company right now: the Dutch business register KVK, the EU VAT service VIES and the EU sanctions list. It compares the name on your invoice with the registered names and lists every open question. When your approver or auditor must be able to check it later, one more call records it so they can verify it without trusting AstraNL.

What you get

• Register: whether the KvK number you give has an active registration, as a verdict. AstraNL does not pass on register data and does not search the register by name; the result links to the KVK source, where you read the registration yourself.
• Name check: EXACT, NORMALIZED_MATCH or NO_MATCH between your invoice name and the names registered under that KvK number, and between your invoice name and the name VIES holds for the VAT number.
• VAT: whether the VAT number is valid in VIES, and whether the name VIES holds for it matches a name registered under the KvK number.
• Sanctions: names on the EU consolidated sanctions list that resemble the supplied or registered names. A candidate is a reason to look closer, never an accusation.
• Open questions: everything you should resolve before paying. Solvency is always listed as unknown, because the insolvency register is not connected.

What it does not tell you

Who may sign or order for the company, whether a bank account belongs to it, its credit risk or reliability, or whether an email or document you received is genuine. A match proves what the sources returned at that moment and nothing more.

Use it in ChatGPT Space

1. A workspace admin adds AstraNL as a custom MCP app with the server address above and no authentication. Custom MCP apps need developer mode, which depends on your workspace policy; see OpenAI's developer mode and MCP apps and admin controls.
2. To use it in a Space Site, the admin also turns on Allow use in Sites for this app, which is off by default.
3. Ask in your Space, for example: Before we pay invoice 2026-114 from the supplier on this invoice, KvK and VAT number as printed, check the supplier with AstraNL and tell me whether all checks pass.
4. If the payment goes ahead and someone must verify it later: Record that check so our approver can verify it. Keep the check_id, the reference and the full result with the payment.

Claude and other MCP clients: add a remote MCP server or custom connector with the server address above and no authentication.

Custom GPT or any agent with HTTP tools: import the action schema https://astranl.com/check-counterparty/openapi.json with no authentication. It calls GET https://astranl.com/api/verify/counterparty?kvk=...&name=...&vat=... and returns the same verdicts, signed with the AstraNL node key.

How your approver verifies it later

Call verify_astranl with the reference, or run the independent verifier from the public specification:

It checks the signature and the public log, then recomputes the digest of the result you kept. The public record holds only that digest and the statuses, never the supplier's name, number or address.

What AstraNL keeps

No stored copy of your inputs or of the result; register answers are cached in memory for at most 10 minutes. For 48 hours it keeps the digest and the statuses of each check so you can record it; a recorded check stays in the public log as a digest. AstraNL pays the register subscription; there is no fee for these tools.
