10 European GridTech startups helping our energy systems cope
A list of ten European GridTech startups was published by EU-Startups, framed against the electricity grid’s growing role as a core infrastructure constraint in the energy transition. The same context includes the nomination of European Commission official Christof Lessenich to head the EU Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER).
The grid must accommodate rising volumes of distributed generation and flexible loads from solar, heat pumps and electric vehicles. ACER’s coordination mandate directly affects how national regulators align rules on network access, congestion management and data exchange that installers and operators rely on.
Grid-focused technology development commonly centres on monitoring, control and optimisation systems; any resulting standards or deployments will shape the practical interfaces between automated equipment, human operators and existing network infrastructure.
