In 2026, Marien and Joos Poppe at Poppe Landbouw applied two machines for weed control in onions: the Andela Robot Weeder for in-row removal and the Electro Weeder for between-row treatment. The combination operated as intended on available days, though large weeds remained visible in the crop as of 24 July. Operators noted that machine performance itself was consistent, with weather limiting the number of workable days.
This case shows embodied AI systems functioning in sequence on a commercial farm without reported intervention failures. For contractors and AI agent operators in the Netherlands, it illustrates how separate weeding units can be coordinated under real field constraints rather than controlled test conditions.
