# Invoices en papieren: bewaar ze gewoon
You're busy. But here's the thing: keeping your invoices and receipts safe is actually the easiest part of your job. And it saves you stress later.
Why keep them?
The tax office wants to know your money came in and went out. Your invoices show what you earned. Your receipts show what you spent. That's it. No mystery. If you can show them the proof, everything is fine.
What to keep?
- Every invoice you send to clients - Every receipt from things you buy for work - Bank statements (these often come automatically anyway) - Invoices from suppliers
Store them somewhere safe—a box, a folder, your phone camera. Digital or paper. Just keep them.
How long?
Don't guess. The Belastingdienst has a specific number of years they want you to keep everything. Check their website or ask your accountant. It's not forever, but it's longer than you'd think.
The real reason?
If the tax office ever asks, you just hand them the proof. You don't panic. You don't scramble. Done.
That's literally all there is to it.
